Lynn Canyon on Friday afternoon....

This Friday afternoon, Global Village students get the chance to visit one of my favourite spots in Vancouver - Lynn Canyon Park in North Vancouver.

Less famous than the nearby Capilano Suspension Bridge, the Lynn Canyon Suspension bridge is less crowded and FREE!

For students: Please sign up with Simon or Sarah in advance - $5 is needed for the bus transportation. Thanks!

Bowling!

On Monday we hit up Rev's bowling alley for some good ol' fashioned ten-pin fun. The students were having an awesome time and Janet was great about switching one of our lanes when there was a small mechanical problem. Thanks Janet!

Laser Tag!!!

Since last month's trip to Richmond's Planet Lazer was so successful, we decided to run it again!

Can we beat last month's scores?

"The Game:
Imagine, your heart beats faster than the laser beam that just ripped by you at 186,000 miles per second. You scream with exhilaration, you shake with adrenaline…your senses come alive! [MOVIE CLIP]
PLANET LAZER  combines hide & seek with hi-tech heart-pounding fun. Up to 44 players move and hide in our 3 level 14,000 square foot award-winning arena. Ages 5 through 95 earn points as they tag their opponents electronic Pack and Phaser, while they avoid being tagged. As they move through the obstacles, black lights, cool graphics, fog, specialty lighting and futuristic music the Pack speaks to the player and tells them what is happening throughout the game.
THE EQUIPMENT: PLANET LAZER  uses the most sophisticated laser tag equipment available on the market, to ensure players are using leading edge technology.
Each Packs sensors have lights and when tagged vibrate for an added rush. During each game players are awarded special powers called "CHIPS". These CHIPS allow the players pack to become Invincible, or Stealth, or Super-Rapid Fire to name a few of these special features. Each CHIP is awarded to a player at random for a preset amount of time during the game. Our Master computer tracks all players movements and at the end of each game players receive a Score Cardto see how they interacted with the other players for added fun.
OUR ARENAS: The largest in North America, our arenas have won awards from the CLTA (Canadian Laser Tag Association), NALTF (North American Laser Tag Federation), and the LTPA (Laser Tag Players Association).
Each heart thumping mission runs 20 minutes plus suit-up and briefing. Games run every 20 minutes."
